Ely was the favorite vacation destination of Charles Kuralt, and was selected as “one of Fifty Places a person should visit in their lifetime” by National Geographic Magazine. With over one million acres of wilderness out our back door, Ely Minnesota has been a vacation destination since the early 1900’s. In addition to the Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe Area, Timber Trail and Ely are home to The International Wolf Center, The International Bear Center, The Dorothy Molter Museum, multiple area Golf Courses, hiking trails, Ely’s downtown specialty shops, and multiple day and overnight canoe trip options. Timber Trail Lodge and Boundary Waters Outfitters are a full service canoe trip outfitter with direct Boundary Waters access. We service all Ely area entry points. We offer packages for families, fishermen, non-profit groups, and adventurers who want to experience the Boundary Waters. We offer full and partial outfitting packages, lodging accommodations, a variety of canoe rental options, route planning services, fishing information, and the finest in wilderness camping equipment at competitive prices. Northern Minnesota is fishing. Here at Timber Trail Lodge we have a long history of providing fishing services to the many fisherpersons who visit us each year. Our guide and informational services are excellent. Our guides spend well over 150 days each summer guiding our guests, many of whom return each year for their annual fishing excursion. Our chain of four interconnected lakes offer fishing for walleyes, northern pike, bass and pinfish. Additionally, we can offer Boundary Waters fishing options for those that wish to get off the beaten path and experience more remote lake fishing, by canoe or motor boat with a Boundary Water’s permit.
